Welcome to the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Public Health!
We are excited that you have chosen LSUHSC School of Public Health to further your education in public health. The faculty, staff, and students of the School of Public Health are eager to welcome you. New Student Orientation is designed to introduce our culture and integrate you into our academic community.
Our Orientation is a two-step process that includes preparatory modules and “on-site” sessions. Both steps of Orientation are mandatory for all new incoming students, including MPH, MS and PhD.
Step 1: The preparatory Pre-Orientation includes informational material, forms, and activities that will be distributed through emails and online postings in advance of the fall semester. Incoming students are expected to review and complete all requested documents and training modules prior to the in -person onsite component of orientation.
Step 2: “On-site” Orientation will be held remotely on Zoom for all new students. This change is made due to the updated state and local government public health requirements for the COVID-19 delta variant. Orientation dates and time will remain as scheduled on the following dates:
Fall 2021 Orientation:Monday, August 16th and Tuesday, August 17th beginning at 8:30 AM and ending at 2:30 PM on both dates. (Remote Zoom Sessions)
Spring 2022 Orientation:Monday, January 10th, 1:00 PM (Remote Zoom Session)
“In-person” or “On-site Orientation” sessions will be held on Zoom, however, the campus tour will remain as planned. Tour groups will meet on campus at 2020 Gravier Street, 1st Floor lobby. Social distancing and masking will be required and is mandated on campus due to COVID-19 pandemic emergency. Orientation is mandatory and will provide crucial information for a successfully start to your BSPH, MPH, MS, or PhD program. All new students are expected to make proper arrangements to be present on Zoom for all scheduled “in-person” or “On-site” Orientation activities.
