Stephen Weiss, PhD, MPH, is a major contributor in establishing Behavioral Medicine as a discipline and is founder of the Society of Behavioral Medicine. His internationally recognized leadership in the fields of health psychology and behavioral medicine of health have earned the Award of Distinguished Professional for his contributions to applied research. Dr. Weiss retired after nearly 20 years as Chief of the National Institutes of Health Behavioral Medicine Branch and has focused his interest on HIV research at the University of Miami’s Coral Gables Campus and the School of Medicine.
