14th APHA Public Health Finance Roundtable Presentations

The 14th Annual American Public Health Associations (APHA) Public Health Finance Roundtable held in San Diego, CA included presenters from LSU Health Sciences Center. This year’s Roundtable presentations were given by School of Medicine students Adeem Nachabe (Year 2) and Daniel McBride (Year 3). They were joined by Douglas Leblanc, a Masters of Public Health graduate, class of 2017, from the School of Public Health. Adeem’s presentation focused on a policy comparison researched of two states to reduce maternal mortality. Adeem’s research was conducted while on his summer of 2018 Health Policy Fellowship at the Association of Community Affiliated Plans. Daniel McBride presented on his work that is focusing on reducing cost and improving quality for patients with Sickle Cell Disease. Daniel’s work was conducted during the Population Health Management Clerkship at AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana. Douglas Leblanc presented on the financial impacts of healthcare provider productivity. Douglas is also a staff at LSU Health Sciences Center School of Public Health in the Louisiana Comprehensive Cancer Control Program. Dr. Peggy Honoré, Professor at the LSU HSC School of Medicine and School of Public Health directs the Policy Fellowship and Clerkship programs and founded the Public Health Finance Roundtable 14 years ago in conjunction with the American Public Health Association’s annual conference.
