Principal InvestigatorDr. Katner became interested in New Orleans’ childhood lead poisoning problem while working with the Louisiana Office of Public Health. Her research focuses on understanding the role drinking water plays in lead exposure.

Co-Principal InvestigatorDr. Diaz is the Program Director of the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Program within the LSUHSC School of Public Health. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, and is director of the department’s newly created Family Medicine/Preventive Medicine Residency Program.

InvestigatorDr. Hu’s research interests include water quality and resource management, wetland restoration, water source conservation, biological water treatment, environmental sciences and health risk assessment.

Study CoordinatorKomal Brown is a New Orleans native and a recent graduate of the LSU School of Public Health. She regularly collaborates with Lead Safe Louisiana on lead poisoning prevention efforts throughout New Orleans.
