Qingzhao Yu named Biostatistics Program Director

A faculty member since 2006 and co-author of the new book Statistical Methods for Mediation, Confounding and Moderation Analysis.

Qingzhao Yu, PhD has been named Director of the Biostatistics Program at the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Public Health. Professor Yu has spent her entire academic career at the School, having joined the Biostatistics Program in 2006 after obtaining her PhD degree in Statistics at The Ohio State University.  During her years working at the School, Professor Yu has taken an active role in curriculum design and development, creating new courses for students both majoring and non-majoring in biostatistics. Professor Yu previously served as graduate coordinator of the Biostatistics program and held leadership positions within the Faculty Assembly, including serving as its President for the past two years. 

Professor Yu is interested in developing statistical methods for public health, health care, clinical and lab research. She is currently a Principal Investigator and co-Investigator for many NIH-funded projects, including the Trends of Disparities in Breast Cancer Progression and Health Care Considering Multilevel Risk Factors, recently funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. Professor Yu has published 120 papers in peer-reviewed journals, reflecting a well-balanced blend between methods development and collaborations. She is also the co-author of the new book “Statistical Methods for Mediation, Confounding and Moderation Analysis Using R and SAS” (Taylor & Francis Group, 2022).
