Dr. Yu earned her Ph.D. in Statistics from Ohio State University in 2006 and is currently a professor at the School of Public Health, LSU Health Sciences Center. Her research focuses on the development of statistical methods for public health, healthcare, and clinical and laboratory research. She has extensive experience collaborating with academic and professional researchers and currently serves as both a principal investigator and coinvestigator on multiple NIH-funded projects.
In addition to her research, Dr. Yu is a regular reviewer for NIH study sections and an active member of various NAACCR research committees. She is affiliated with the American Statistical Association and the International Society for Bayesian Analysis. Dr. Yu has authored over 130 peer-reviewed publications and is the author of the book Statistical Methods for Mediation, Confounding, and Moderation Analysis Using R and SAS.
Her research interests include Bayesian modeling, Bayesian clinical trials, causal effect analysis, computational methods, health disparities, machine learning, data mining, mediation analysis, spatial
analysis, and survey research.
Since assuming the role of Interim Associate Dean, Dr. Yu has secured extramural funding, launched a monthly research newsletter, spearheaded the development of the READ Center, and represented the School on multiple Health Sciences Center-wide committees. She brings extensive biostatistical expertise to the position and will continue to work with Ms. Arteaga as they pursue impactful research to advance human health.
