Our Location:

The LSUHSC School of Public Health is the Lions/LSU Clinics Bldg (directions) located on the LSU Health Sciences downtown New Orleans campus  with the street address 2020 Gravier Street, 3rd Floor, New Orleans, LA 70112.

It is mandatory and required at this time, due to COVID-19 pandemic emergency, that all students, faculty, staff or visitor wear a mask covering while on LSU Health Sciences Center’s campus.

If you are arriving as an out of state or international student and plan to visit campus please email SPHOrientation@lsuhsc.edu for assistance and directions in advance of your arrival. Arrangements for local transportation to LSU Health Science Center can use the School of Public Health address, 2020 Gravier Street, New Orleans, LA 70112 for arrival. First Arrival on Campus and the School of Public Health:

Parking Options:

  • Pay parking available in LSUHSC – S. Romans Street Parking Garage located on South Romans Street, between Tulane Ave & Gravier Street. The entrance to the S. Romans Parking Garage is on S. Romans Street. The parking machine to pay for parking is on the Bolivar Street side of the parking garage.
  • Metered Paid Street parking – there are many paid street parking spaces along Gravier Street, S. Romans Street, Bolivar Street & Perdido Street. This City of New Orleans metered parking – please park legally and pay or your will be ticketed by the city.

Getting into the Lions Eye Center Building where School of Public Health is housed:

The School of Public Health is located in Lions Eye Clinic Building (building #6, Labeled Map),

2020 Gravier St, 3rd Floor. Once parked the access to the school is via the above the street walkway, connecting the LSUHSC buildings. The walkway’s access/entrance is through the South Roman Street Parking Garage, 3rd floor. If accessing the walkway at street level use the elevator located in South Roman Street Parking Garage on the Bolivar Street side of the garage. Not all buildings on campus have first floor access to LSUHSC and LSUHSC ID is required at some entrances. Using the elevated walkway by entering through the South Roman Street Parking Garage (building #8) or the street entrance to Nursing/Allied Health building (building #9) are the only street access points to the LSUHSC buildings on your first visit.

Cabs and Taxis:
A cab ride costs $36.00 from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) for one person and $15.00 (per passenger) for three or more passengers. Please note that these fares are subject to change. The fare prices fluctuate a dollar or two depending on the time of year. Pick-up is on the lower level, outside the baggage claim area. Airport Shuttle:
Shuttle service is available from the airport to the hotels in the CBD for $24.00 (per person, one-way) or $44.00 (per person, round-trip). Three bags per person.  You can purchase ticket(s) in person at the Airport Shuttle Ticket Desk, located on the ground level of the airport across from baggage claim areas 1, 5, 9 and 12, or make a reservation by calling (866) 596-2699 once you have your flight information. Please call in advance of your travel date for the specially-equipped shuttle to be reserved. Advance reservations are required 48 hours prior to travel for all ADA accessible transfers. Ride Sharing Services:
New Orleans has ride sharing services to connect you with local drivers. Download the Uber or Lyft apps on your smart phone to pick up a ride in minutes. These apps will match you with a local driver who will take you to your destination, and you can simply pay with your phone at the end of your trip. Uber and Lyft offers transportation services from the Airport. Passengers can meet their app-based ride service outside of the Ground Transportation Center located on the first floor of the Short-Term Parking Garage by crossing the pedestrian crosswalk located outside of Baggage Claim 6.

Car Rental:
The Consolidated Rental Car Facility (CONRAC) is located a short walk away from the main terminal at the Airport. Passengers should exit the Baggage Claim area (first level) near Belts 12-14 and continue to the right down a covered walkway to the CONRAC. Amtrak:
Union Station is located at 1001 Loyola Avenue in New Orleans. Passengers should use taxi cab, public bus, or ride sharing service to reach the School. www.amtrak.com

Greyhound Bus:
The closest location is the Downtown Bus Station at 1001 Loyola Avenue, New Orleans, 70113. For information fares and scheduling, call (504) 525-9371 or toll free 1-800-231-2222. www.greyhound.com

Public Transit:
Public mass transportation from the airport to downtown New Orleans is now easier than ever. Today, the Jefferson Transit Authority (JET) and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) provide nine (9) daily departures to downtown New Orleans. Both utilize the bus stop located on the outer lanes of the second floor, outside the Concourse C Lobby Information Booth. (It is advised that you take into consideration your luggage if you plan on using public transit to reach the School.)

The Airport-Downtown Express (E2) Bus operated by JET is $2.00. The fare boxes will accept $1, $5, $10, $20 dollar bills and all U.S. coins. The Airport-Downtown Express (E2) provides service from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, down Airline Drive into New Orleans, which takes approximately fifty (50) minutes. For more information on public transit in the area, visit the Jefferson Transit website, www.jeffersontransit.org. Exit the bus at the corner of Tulane Ave. + S. Prieur Street and walk one block towards Gravier Street. Turn left on Gravier Street. The Lions Eye Building where the School of Public Health is located, 2020 Gravier Street, will be on the right-side.
