|Students arrive in New Orleans, LA – LSUHSC School of Public Health Contact us on arrival to 504-568-5700 or by email to SPHOrientation@lsuhsc.edu||All Day||Collaborative||Familiarity||This date is scheduled to facilitate student arrivals into the city of New Orleans. It will provide for adequate time to secure housing, take care of any personal business and adjust to any changes in time zones. This additional day will also help to acclimate students in advance of the following days activities. Appointed student ambassadors will be on campus to provide assistance on arrival of incoming students. Arrange for local transportation arrival to LSU Health Science Center, School of Public Health, 2020 Gravier Street, New Orleans, LA 70112
Helpful Planning Note: Students without secured housing prior to their arrival should plan on staying at a nearby hotel until your housing is available. See the Arrival Information webpage for travel and planning purposes.
|Wednesday, August 8th|
|All New Student Orientation, Day 1|
|Compliance and CITI Trainings, open session and mindfulness program. Location: Lions Eye Center Bldg, School of Public Health, 2nd Floor, Computer Lab Room 222||9:00AM-4:00PM||Collaborative||Participation, Professionalism, Integrity||Hands-on session open to all in our computer lab for new students to complete all required compliance training. This is a final chance to complete this requirement. The session will include some relaxation and mindfulness breaks to keep you on task and limber to complete this requirement. Both compliance and CITI trainings require an estimated 7 hours to complete (4.5 hours CITI/ 2.5 LSU Compliance).
Helpful Planning Note: Don’t wait to complete these trainings. They can be completed on your own time prior to on-site orientation. This session is not an optional session if your compliance training is pending on Monday, August 6th. Please dress comfortably and plan to stay the for the length of the session.
|Living Essentials Shopping Trip (optional)||4:00PM-8:00PM||Culturally Adept||Familiarity, Hospitality||International and Out-of-state students without transportation and new to the area will have an opportunity to shop for any living essentials and personal items needed before the start of the semester. We will provide transportation from LSUHSC to Walmart and back.

|Welcome program for International and Out of State students Location: Lions Eye Center Bldg, School of Public Health, 3rd Floor, Room 303||11:00AM||Culturally Adept||Integration, Familiarity, Hospitality||Check-In at the School of Public Health|
|Campus Tour & Lunch (optional)||11:15AM-12:50PM||Collaborative, Culturally Adept||Familiarity||Students will become familiar with buildings and offices of LSUHSC on a guided tour. This will also provide a time for any additional questions and advice from SPH student peers. Lunch will be provided.|
|Meeting with International Service Office
(REQUIRED for International Arrivals)
|1:00PM-2:30PM||Collaborative, Culturally Adept||Integration, Familiarity, Hospitality||This is a required informational session with the LSU Health Science Center International Office and officially check-in with the University. It will provide an educational component for arriving international students and expectations to remain in good standing as required.|

|LSUHSC School of Public Health Day of Service||7:30AM-1:00PM||Innovative, Transformative, Collaborative||Service, Responsibility, Participation, Community Engagement||During this time incoming students will get to meet and serve together at various community and public organizations across the city. Each site will have a pre-determined group of students and site leader. Faculty and current students are also welcomed to serve. Registration for the Day of Service is required. Visit the Day of Service webpage for registration and the specifics on the organizations that we will serve together. This orientation activity is not optional.|
|Rock n’ Bowl||4:00PM-6:30PM||Collaborative, Culturally Adept||Hospitality, Integration, Familiarity||Incoming students will have an opportunity to socialize and come together for a fun activity at a local favorite. Bowling is not required, but fun is! Entry ticket, bowling shoes rental, lanes and snacks will be provided. Registration for Rock n’ Bowl is required and available here through the Optional & Fun Activities Registration.
