LSU School of Public Health Expands Reach with New Baton Rouge Instructional Site

The LSU School of Public Health is proud to announce the launch of a new Off-Campus Instructional Site (OCIS) in Baton Rouge, further expanding access to high-quality public health education in Louisiana. The site is scheduled to open in August of 2025 and will welcome its first cohort of students in the Fall 2025 semester.

This exciting new initiative will launch with the Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology and Population Health—a program designed to equip students with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to analyze and address the most pressing public health issues affecting populations today.

By offering the program at the Baton Rouge site, the School of Public Health aims to create increased opportunities for students who are interested in continuing their education on or near the LSU Baton Rouge campus. The addition not only enhances accessibility but also strengthens the relationship between LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and LSU’s flagship campus in Baton Rouge, providing a more flexible and regionally responsive educational experience.

“We are excited to be expanding our programming to include a Baton Rouge campus,” said Dr. Kari Brisolara, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the LSU School of Public Health. “This site allows us to better serve students in the region, while also strengthening our commitment to building a healthier Louisiana through education, research, and service.”

The Epidemiology and Population Health program focuses on the study of disease patterns, health outcomes, and the factors that influence them at the population level. With the addition of this Baton Rouge site, students will gain greater access to training, resources, and potential partnerships within the state’s capital—broadening the scope and impact of their public health education.

Additional degree programs and concentrations will be added in the future as the OCIS continues to grow and respond to workforce needs throughout the region.
