LSU Emeritus Professor Awarded International Association Honorary Membership

The International Association of Cancer Registries (IACR) presented an Honorary Membership award to Dr. Vivien Chen for her dedication, contributions, and leadership in the field of international cancer surveillance.  Dr. Chen was the North American representative and served on IACR Executive Board for 6 years. She was a member of the site visit team that visited 7 cancer registries in China and a faculty member of the cancer registry workshop in Shanghai in 2014.  In addition, she was an invited editor of the IACR Technical Report on Cancer Registration: Principles and Methods. The induction took place at the IACR Annual Conference in Marrakech, Morocco, October 21, 2016.  Dr. Chen, Emeritus Professor of Epidemiology at the Louisiana State University School of Public Health–New Orleans, is the former NAACCR President, Calum Muir Lifetime Achievement Award winner, and former Louisiana Tumor Registry (LTR) Director. The LTR is supported by the NCI-SEER program, the CDC-NPCR program, and the State of Louisiana, and is located at the LSU School of Public Health.
