Rapid Case Ascertainment (RCA) enables researchers to identify cancer cases shortly after diagnosis to facilitate population-based cancer prevention and control research that requires early contact with patients.

Finding eligible participants for research studies and clinical trials can be laborious and time- consuming. The challenge is compounded when time is of the essence –when you need to identify candidates soon after diagnosis.

Because of its efficient electronic pathology reporting, the Louisiana Tumor Registry can provide histologically confirmed information on patients within three months of diagnosis. Pathology reports are obtained from hospital-based laboratories, freestanding laboratories and national laboratory facilities and are carefully reviewed for eligibility.
