Requirements: Must be enrolled as a full time student in LSUHSC School of Public Health
Job Duties: Pathology report data entry, coding, and management within the SEER Database, De-identification of tumor specimens and pathology reports
- Familiarity with Louisiana geography
- For assignment of correct region of diagnosis
- Background with knowledge, recognition and application of medical terminology

- Ability to read and interpret pathology reports and terminology
- Must acquire knowledge of coding, processing, scanning and uploading paper pathology reports from a variety of Louisiana facilities in various phases of conversion to Epath (Note: there is no standardized format in pathology reporting so the screener must have experience to recognize, locate, and interpret the key diagnostic terms.
- Knowledge in data entry:
- Word
- Excel
- Access (preferred, but not essential)
- SEER*DMS – LTR’s data management system; will be taught
- Letters and documents
- Grammar
- Formatting
- Accuracy
- Familiarity with document quality control
- Accurate entry of pathology report data into the registry database management system (SEER*DMS);
- Attention to detail
- Good observational skills
- Ability to edit and recognize data error & omission
- Problem solver
