Erica J. Washington, PhD Student in Epidemiology receives the Reverend Connie Thomas Award

This year, Erica J. Washington, PhD student in the School of Public Health Epidemiology Program, was presented with The Reverend Connie Thomas Award in honor and appreciation of her years of service and dedication to Luke’s House, the community and her robust work in the field of healthcare. Erica was honored with this award on Friday, March 23, 2018 as part of the 7th annual Brass Bash organized by Luke’s House, a clinic for healing and hope an event to raise money for families and individuals in need of medical and mental health services.

In 2013, Washington was recognized as a White House Champion of Change for Prevention and Public Health. Additionally, she was a 2016-2017 Informatics-Training in Place Program Fellow (I-TIPP) through Project S.H.I.N.E. – a collaborative between Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, and National Association of City and County Health Officials that seeks to increase the informatics capacity of health departments nationwide. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Public Health. She is certified in public health (CPH), infection control (CIC), and healthcare quality (CPHQ).
