Dr. Vivien Chen, Faculty Emeritus of the School of Public Health Receives Honorary Membership from International Association of Cancer Registries (IACR)

October 25, 2016 – The North American Association Cancer Registries Executive Director, Betsy A. Kohler, has announced the distinguished representation at the 38th International Association of Cancer Registries (IACR) Conference in Marrakech, Morocco last week. With at least 13 individuals representing North American central registries and partner organizations, they shared knowledge with Keynote addresses, posters, oral presentations, and by moderating sessions.

Kohler was delighted to report that Dr. Vivien Chen, former NAACCR President and Calum Muir Lifetime Achievement Award winner, and former Louisiana Tumor Registry Director and current Emeritus Faculty in the LSUHSC School of Public Health was honored this year by the International Association of Cancer Registries (IACR) with an Honorary Membership for her dedication, contributions, and leadership in the field of international cancer surveillance. The induction took place on October 21, 2016 at the IACR Annual Conference in Marrakech, Morocco. Kohler stated, “Dr. Chen’s accomplishments and enthusiasm are well known to us, and it is rewarding to see her acknowledged by IACR with this prestigious award. Congratulations Vivien!”
