Dr. Honoré to Address Academy Health Center for Diversity, Inclusion, and Minority Engagement Annual Conference

Dr. Peggy Honoré, faculty in the LSUHSC School of Public Health, Health Policy and Systems Management and the School of Medicine, Division of Medicine, has been invited to deliver opening remarks at the AcademyHealth Center for Diversity, Inclusion, and Minority Engagement (DIME) Diversity Networking Reception on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00pm CDT.  Dr. Honoré served as an inaugural member of the Advisory Committee for the AcademyHealth / Aetna Foundation Minority Scholars Program and devoted many years and time guiding their efforts to select junior researchers who would benefit most from professional development and mentoring opportunities. AcademyHealth DIME has asked Dr. Honoré to reflect specifically on her contributions since 2003, current experiences at the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Public Health and School of Medicine, and the importance of establishing a strong mentoring program and retention strategies for junior faculty and mid-career researchers from underrepresented racial / ethnic minority groups. AcademyHealth’s Annual Research Meeting convenes users and producers of health services research from around the world to improve health and health care. The AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting will convene in New Orleans, LA on June 25th – 27th, 2017.
