Dr. Edward Peters appointed Vice-Chair of the LSU HSC IRB

Dr. Edward Peters has been appointed to serve as Vice-Chair of the LSU Health Sciences Center’s Human Research Protection Program and Institutional Review Board (IRB). He has served as a member of the LSU HSC Human Research Protection Program and IRB since 2005. As Chancellor Larry H. Hollier noted, “human subject research is an important mission of our Health Science Center.” Dr. Peters, during his joint appointments at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, held major administrative responsibilities as an Assistant Chief for Research, Director of General Dentistry Residency and as Chief, Division of Oral Medicine and Dentistry. During his tenure at Partners Healthcare System in Boston, MA he also served as member of the Institutional Review Board. Currently, he also serves as Chair for the American College of Epidemiology Ethics Committee. Dr.Peters is Professor and Chair of the LSU School of Public Health’s Epidemiology Program and an Epidemiologist with the Louisiana Tumor Registry.
