AmeriHealth Caritas Community Wellness Center Opens in Gentilly

New Orleans, LA – Monday, October 29, 2018

Dr. Peggy Honoré, participated and attended the AmeriHealth Caritas ribbon cutting to officially open its Community Wellness Center in Gentilly on Monday as the AmeriHealth Caritas-General Russel Honoré Endowed Professor at LSU. She introduced the keynote address speaker Dr. Rebekah Gee, Secretary for the Louisiana Department of Health. The AmeriHealth Caritas Community Wellness Center will provide New Orleans residents with access to important health and wellness resources and will support the AmeriHealth Caritas mission to help members get care, stay well, and build healthy communities. LSUHSC medical student Keyana Vernado is pictured with Dr. Honore at the event. Keyana is a 4th year medical student and currently on rotation in the Population Health Management Clerkship at AmeriHealth Caritas in Baton Rouge where she is working on community engagement activities with a focus on improving pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Honoré serves as the Director for this Clerkship Program at the LSUHSC medical school.

Peggy A. Honoré, DHA is the AmeriHealth Caritas – General Russel Honoré Endowed Professor at Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Sciences Center School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Systems Management, and School of Medicine, Department of Medicine. Rebekah Gee, MD, MPH, FACOG is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Systems Management in the School of Public Health and the School of Medicine, at Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Sciences Center.
