Program Changes Beginning Fall 2024

New concentrations will be organized to reflect the diverse work and expertise of our current faculty and help identify future growth opportunities for the school in research and practice. The streamlined core helps to strike the right balance between discipline-specific and interdisciplinary courses to give students a solid grounding in their program, yet enhance their learning of broader perspectives.

The School of Public Health has been engaged in strategic planning for the past six months. One of the first accomplishments was discussing and revising our Vision and Mission. These were done with considerable input while retaining our values and commitment to Louisiana.

Biostatistics & Data Science (BSDS)

The Biostatistics and Data Sciences program at our School of Public Health has a clear educational mission: to train students in statistical, computational, and data science methods to apply the methods to tackle intricate challenges within public health and biomedical research.

Community Health Science & Policy (CHSP)

Community Health Science & Policy is focused on promoting wellness, preventing disease, and improving the quality of life among marginalized communities and populations by focusing on systems, equity, and policy impact.

Environment, Health, Equity & Sustainability (EHES)

The Environment, Health, Equity and Sustainability Program (EHES) was created to address the shortage of public health professionals with the background to address climate change as a public health issue.

Epidemiology & Population Health (EPPH)

The mission of the Epidemiology and Population Health Program is to reduce health inequities among population groups by exploring determinants of health factors such as social structures, the environment, health behaviors, resource distribution, quality gaps, policy impacts, (etc.) on clinical outcomes and community health.
