Biography & Expertise
Dr. Wightkin has been on the faculty of LSUHSC, School of Public Health since 2006. She serves as a consultant to Louisiana’s Medicaid Program-Quality Management department focusing on the prevention of preterm births in the state, and with the Michigan State University, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s grant from the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality to improve the health system serving pregnant women covered by Medicaid. Dr. Wightkin’s recent work in developing health systems to improve the health of reproductive age women and children spans local, state, and federal government, foundations, and non-profit entities. She spent over 25 years as Director of Louisiana’s Federal Title V-Maternal and Child Health Block Grant in the Office of Public Health, Department of Health and Hospitals. Dr. Wightkin received her DrPH and MPH from Tulane University and BA from Boston University.
