The LSUHSC School of Public Health has joined the Association of Schools and Programs in Public Health’s Schools of Public Health Application Service (SOPHAS), a centralized admissions system for the 2016-2017 Academic Year.

SOPHAS will require that you list all university courses that you have taken and designate the grades assigned to you in these courses.

Additionally, for application specifically to LSUHSC School of Public Health, you will need to provide SOPHAS:

  • The GRE or MCAT report (which you may “self report” on the SOPHAS site prior to receipt of official GRE or MCAT report by SOPHAS and LSUHSC)
  • Your resume
  • Your goal statement
  • Your transcripts
  • Three recommendations

You may access the SOPHAS website (http://www.sophas.org/) to see all of the LSUHSC deadlines for admissions for fall, spring and summer enrollment.

Please note that all applications must be processed through SOPHAS, unless otherwise specified.


MD/MPH Degree Programs

Admission to the LSUHSC School of Public Health MPH program requires that the student is first admitted to the MD program.

The deadline for completing applications to the MPH program in the School of Public Health is May 5, 2017.

Students apply directly to the School of Public Health using the form MPH Application for Dual MD/MPH Students. They will designate on the application which of the five MPH concentrations to which they wish to apply.

Students also will complete the Authorization to Release Medical School Records form, which allows the sharing of application materials between the schools of Medicine and Public Health.

Finally, students will submit to the School of Public Health a goal statements describing why they wish to pursue an MPH degree.
